President Bola Tinubu has arrived at the iconic Mapo Hall in Ibadan, Oyo State, for the coronation of Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The President’s arrival was greeted with loud cheers from a massive crowd of citizens and dignitaries who turned out to witness the historic ceremony, which marks the peak of a week-long celebration of Ladoja’s ascension to the throne.
The coronation has drawn high-profile figures from across Nigeria, underscoring its cultural and political importance as Ibadan upholds the legacy of its centuries-old monarchy.
Ladoja, 81, a former governor of Oyo State and senator, emerged as the new Olubadan after the passing of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin on July 7.
Known as a respected businessman and politician, he worked his way up through the traditional Olubadan hierarchy before attaining the prestigious position.
The Olubadan of Ibadanland is regarded as the paramount ruler of Ibadan, one of West Africa’s largest cities, and remains a revered symbol of Yoruba culture, history, and tradition.
