A 14-year-old girl, Paloma Nicole Arellano Escobedo, has tragically died following an allegedly unauthorised breast enlargement surgery in Durango, Mexico. Her father, Carlos Arellano, says he was unaware of the procedure and is now demanding a full investigation.
Paloma passed away in hospital on Saturday, September 20, reportedly a week after the surgery. Her death certificate listed cerebral edema due to a respiratory illness as the cause of death, but Carlos claims the listing is false and was intended to cover up the circumstances surrounding the operation.
Carlos said he only discovered the breast implants and surgical scars after attending his daughter’s funeral. “Her death certificate falsely stated ‘illness’ as the cause of death in an attempt to cover up the truth,” he said. He also expressed suspicion over how quickly the certificate was issued, saying, “They gave it to us right away, I don’t know how they did it so quickly.”
Following the funeral, Carlos filed a complaint, alleging a cover-up and calling for those responsible to be investigated. The Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that an investigation into Paloma’s death is ongoing.
