The leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos, Shamusideen Oladiti, popularly known as Shameleon, has been arraigned before the Ebute-Meta Magistrate Court in Yaba over the alleged murder of a dispatch rider.
Oladiti, 55, was brought to court on a three-count charge of murder, conspiracy, and causing grievous harm. According to the charge sheet, the offences took place on August 27 and September 17, 2025, within the Lagos Island Magisterial District.
The prosecution alleged that Oladiti, alongside others still at large, assaulted two men, Imam Ramon and Omale Samuel, with helmet strikes and fist blows, inflicting severe injuries. Ramon was taken to Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina, where he later died.
Investigations revealed that the altercation began after the victim was accused of scratching Oladiti’s vehicle along Tapa Street, Lagos Island.
The offences are said to contravene Sections 223, 411, and 245 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
Oladiti pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him. The Magistrate ordered his remand pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
