The Lagos State Government and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are in mourning following the death of another female local government official, the fifth such loss in just two months.
The latest victim is Mrs. Adebimpe Akintola, Council Manager of Coker Aguda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and Chairman of the Forum of Council Managers in Lagos State. She passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, after a brief illness.
Council Managers, also known as Heads of Administration (HoA), serve as administrative heads and accounting officers for the state’s 20 local governments and 37 LCDAs.
The Forum of Council Managers announced her death in a statement on Tuesday:
“With total submission to the will of Allah, we announce the passing away of our dear Chairman, Mrs. Adebimpe Akintola, this afternoon, Monday, September 29, 2025. She was the Council Manager of Coker/Aguda LCDA until her death.”
Her funeral rites will follow Islamic traditions, with the Janazah Prayer scheduled at Al Kitab Mosque, Abosede Onamade Street, Eleshin, after Zuhr Prayer around 1:00 p.m., and interment at Equitable CDA Muslim Cemetery, Igbe Lara, by 2:00 p.m.
The council has been thrown into mourning, with staff seen reflecting quietly on her loss.
Mrs. Akintola’s death follows the passing of four other female council officials since the inauguration of the current Lagos council administration on July 27, 2025:
- August 13: Mrs. Oluwakemi Rufai, Councillor for Ward C, Ibeju Lekki Local Government.
