Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, has been conferred with the distinguished traditional title of Sarauniyar Yaki (Warrior Queen) of Akko Emirate in Gombe State.

The title was awarded on Thursday by the Lamido Akko, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Atiku, in recognition of her unwavering dedication to protecting the vulnerable and promoting the welfare of women and children across Nigeria.

During her two-day working visit, the First Lady is also set to launch the Renewed Hope Initiative’s ‘Flow With Confidence’ programme, a pioneering menstrual health project that will provide schoolgirls with disposable sanitary pads to enhance menstrual hygiene and curb school absenteeism.

Following the conferment, Mrs. Tinubu expressed her gratitude, calling the honor both inspiring and humbling. She pledged to intensify her initiatives for the girl-child, particularly in education and health, and encouraged traditional rulers to support her advocacy to ensure her programmes reach grassroots communities.

The ceremony in Akko Emirate was attended by Gombe State Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, Chief Whip of the House of Representatives Hon. Usman Bello Kumo, and other distinguished guests.
