Geoffrey Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, has resigned following allegations of certificate forgery.
The resignation was confirmed on Tuesday by President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who said the President accepted Nnaji’s decision to step down.
Onanuga stated, “President Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji as Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology following allegations against him.”
Appointed in August 2023, Nnaji expressed gratitude in his resignation letter for the opportunity to serve Nigeria and claimed that he had “been a target of blackmail by political opponents.”
The statement added that President Tinubu thanked Nnaji for his service and wished him success in his future endeavours.
