Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has described himself as a “golden minister,” saying his rise and timing in public office are signs of divine favour.
Wike made the remarks on Thursday while flagging off the construction of Collector Road CN2 (Emmanuel I. Ogala Street) from Arterial N16 (Yemi Osinbajo Way) to N20 (Wole Soyinka Way) in Katampe District, Abuja.
He recalled that he was the governor of Rivers State when the state celebrated its 50th anniversary and now serves as FCT Minister as the nation’s capital prepares to mark its own golden jubilee next February.
“Some of us have been very lucky. We became governors when our state turned 50 and now ministers when the FCT will clock 50. Are we not loved by God?” Wike said.
He added that his experience is proof of God’s grace, urging others not to be envious of his blessings.
“Well, you may sit on my seat, but that doesn’t mean you’re specially loved like we are loved by God,” he added with a smile.
Wike also called on officials and contractors to ensure that the FCT’s 50th anniversary is marked with visible progress and completed infrastructure projects.
