Luton Town have confirmed Jack Wilshere, former Arsenal midfielder, as their new head coach.
The announcement follows the club’s decision to part ways with Matt Bloomfield during the October international break, after the Hatters suffered five defeats in their opening 11 League One matches, coming off back-to-back relegations.
Wilshere, 33, had been waiting for his first permanent managerial role following a brief interim spell with Norwich City at the end of the 2024-25 season, where he secured four points from the club’s final two Championship fixtures. He has now signed a contract to take charge at Kenilworth Road.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Wilshere described his appointment as a “full-circle moment,” recalling his early connection with Luton Town as a child.
“It’s a huge honour and a privilege to be named Luton Town manager,” he said. “I was eight when I first came to Luton, so it feels fitting that my first full-time managerial role is at this club. I’m thrilled to be here and can’t wait to get started.”
He added: “This club’s story inspires me. Built on belief, unity, and hard work, they’ve shown incredible character on and off the pitch. I’m honoured to lead this team and put my own stamp on things. There’s so much of the season still to play for, and I want to give the fans a side they can be proud of. The work starts today.”
