Apparently the driver was taking passengers from Akure to Abuja when his car broke down near an Amry check point at Akunu, Ondo.

With difficulties fixing the car, passengers started asking for refunds. But he was reluctant to fulfil their demands.

So, the passengers approached the checkpoint soldiers to intervene. 

One soldier got involved, rudely challenged the driver, caused altercations and then violently beat up the driver.

The driver got badly injured, that the Army from 32 Artilery Brigade had rush the driver to a clinic in Akoko.

Afterwhich they were referred to Ondo State Specialist hospital Akure, and thereafter to FMC Owo, where the driver sadly died, on Monday 14th October.

The Brigade covered all the medical expenses. Will cover the burial cost and have settled to support the welfare of the deceased driver’s kids.

The Soldier is to face disciplinary actions for uncouth and unprofessional conduct.
