Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, popularly known as Blaqbonez, has said he would be open to an open marriage, explaining that sexual exclusivity isn’t the most important aspect of a committed relationship.
Speaking on the In My Opinion podcast, Blaqbonez noted that passion and sexual activity in marriage naturally decrease over time. He said the core of a successful marriage lies in emotional and mental connection, which cannot be replaced by external partners. He added that if one partner is unavailable due to work or travel, it could be acceptable for the other to seek intimacy elsewhere.
“Sometimes I wonder if I'm broken, I don’t trust anybody or anything. I don’t care, it’s open to her. Most married couples don’t keep having the same amount of sex they had in the beginning—it naturally reduces,” he said.
Blaqbonez continued: “If someone is satisfying her sexually while I’m hustling or touring and not always available, that’s okay. Marriage is more than sex. You give me your time, your effort, your energy—if she sneaks in two minutes with someone else, I don’t care.”
He added that his emotional bond with his spouse would always be stronger than anyone else’s influence. “Nobody is going to get her both sexually and mentally addicted to them. You probably can’t make her laugh the way I do,” he said.
