Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, has launched Grokipedia, a new online encyclopedia positioned as a rival to Wikipedia, which Musk has long criticized for what he describes as ideological bias.
The platform, introduced on Monday as version 0.1, already featured more than 885,000 articles by evening—though still far behind Wikipedia’s over seven million English entries.
Musk announced that a more advanced version, Grokipedia 1.0, will follow soon, promising it will be “10X better” than the current version, which he claimed is already “better than Wikipedia.”
“The goal of Grok and Grokipedia.com is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. We will never be perfect, but we shall nonetheless strive towards that goal,” Musk stated on X after the launch.
The billionaire added that the release, initially planned for late September, had been postponed to “purge out the propaganda,” underscoring his commitment to making Grokipedia a platform for what he calls unbiased information.
