Production manager Anierobi Courage, also known as Nwa South, has been taken into custody after allegedly assaulting the head of makeup, Mary Chizzy Eze, on the set of Lagos to Opulence.
The incident occurred on Tuesday and was captured in a video that quickly went viral. In the footage, Courage is seen striking Mary and holding her by the neck before crew members intervened to separate them.
According to the Nigeria Film Crew Community, the altercation began after Mary raised concerns about the poor accommodation provided for the crew, noting that 15 female members were being lodged in a single room.
The community released a statement saying: “On October 28, 2025, on the set of Caddilly Production’s Lagos to Opulence, production manager Anierobi Courage a.k.a. Nwa South physically and violently assaulted the head of makeup, Mary Chizzy Eze. He has been arrested while Mary is receiving medical attention. This behaviour is unacceptable and must not be tolerated in the industry.”
They further condemned Courage’s actions as “violent and inhumane” and called for filmmakers to blacklist him for six months. The statement also highlighted the need for better welfare and accommodation standards for crew members on film sets.
Courage, who has previously worked as a casting director on multiple Nollywood projects, remains in police custody as authorities continue their investigation. Mary is recovering from her injuries.
