Grammy Award-winning artist Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, known professionally as Burna Boy, has stated that Fela Anikulapo Kuti is the only musician greater than him.
The “Ye” singer made the revelation during a live session with American streamer and producer PlaqueBoyMax, following a playful reaction to a gift from Davido.
In the clip that has gone viral, Burna Boy acknowledged Fela Kuti as the ultimate legend, placing him above other Nigerian stars including Wizkid, Davido, and 2Baba.
This statement comes shortly after Burna Boy trended online during Fela’s 87th posthumous birthday, when fans highlighted several of his tracks that sampled the Afrobeat pioneer, calling on him to honor Fela’s legacy.
During the live session, Burna Boy said, “He (Fela Kuti) is the king, bro. You get me? He is the only one greater than me, he is the only one.”
