Amad Diallo produced a spectacular 81st-minute volley to rescue Manchester United in a thrilling 2-2 Premier League draw with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
United looked set for a fourth consecutive victory and a rise to second place after Casemiro headed home from a corner late in the first half — a set piece that Forest players angrily protested should never have been given.
However, the hosts turned the game around within two minutes after the break. Captain Morgan Gibbs-White muscled past Amad to meet Ryan Yates’ deep cross and power home the equaliser. Moments later, another cross from the right caused chaos in United’s box, allowing Nicolo Savona to pounce after Igor Jesus’ header deflected into the six-yard area. The midfielder calmly slotted past Sanne Lammens to put Forest ahead.
Despite the setback, Ruben Amorim’s side showed renewed mental strength. Bruno Fernandes rattled the post before Amad delivered a moment of brilliance, smashing a first-time volley from the edge of the area beyond Matz Sels to level the score.
United nearly stole all three points in stoppage time when Amad’s late strike beat the goalkeeper but was dramatically cleared off the line by Murillo, leaving both sides to settle for a point after an electrifying contest.
