Singer Waje has opened up about her expectations in a partner, stressing that financial stability, maturity, and emotional intelligence are non-negotiable qualities for her.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, the award-winning vocalist explained that at this stage in her life, she has moved past the idea of “building” with someone from scratch. She said she needs a man who can inspire her and provide leadership in the relationship.
“I can’t marry someone who is not successful, and here’s why: first of all, I’m not in my 20s so we are not growing together,” Waje stated. “A man leads, he leads by selling aspirations to me. I have to aspire to see him lead. And if he can’t inspire me to grow, we can’t be partners. So, success is part of it. Faith and emotional intelligence are also part of it.”
The singer also made it clear that dating younger men is completely out of the question, saying such relationships often come with immaturity and unnecessary tension.
“We will have issues. I’m very pragmatic. Sometimes I have to hold myself with my siblings, my friends, and my family members. Imagine if it was a husband? He would get tired. I will be treating him like my child. He would hate me,” she added.
Waje’s remarks have since stirred conversations online, with many fans praising her honesty and clarity about her relationship standards.
