Tension erupted at the Miss Universe 2025 pre-pageant event in Thailand after several contestants staged a walkout in protest of an alleged verbal attack on Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch.

The drama reportedly began when Thai pageant official Nawat Itsaragrisil criticized Bosch for failing to post promotional content online, allegedly calling her “dumb” and ordering her to “shut up.” The confrontation quickly escalated, prompting Nawat to threaten disqualification and call for security.

In response, Bosch walked out of the venue, joined by several other contestants in a powerful show of solidarity.

Speaking afterward, Bosch expressed her disappointment over the incident, describing the remarks as demeaning and contrary to the values of women’s empowerment the pageant claims to uphold.

She said, “As a country, you have all my respect. I truly love Thailand and its people. But what your director did is not respectful. He called me dumb and told me to shut up, among other things. I think the world needs to see this because we are empowered women. This is a platform for our voice.”

The incident has sparked global outrage, with many fans and advocacy groups calling for an official apology and investigation into the alleged misconduct.
