The U.S. government has revoked visas for thousands of foreign nationals in a move aimed at prioritizing public safety.
The U.S. Department of State announced on Thursday that the action reflects the Trump administration’s commitment to keeping promises and protecting the interests of the American people.
According to the statement, the revocations target individuals involved in criminal activities such as assault, theft, and driving under the influence. In 2025 alone, 16,000 visas were canceled for DUI offenses, 12,000 for assault, and 8,000 for theft.
Other reasons cited for visa cancellations include terrorism, support for terrorist activities, threats to public safety, and overstaying of visas.
The Department of State stressed that these measures are part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of U.S. citizens and maintain the integrity of the nation’s immigration system.
