A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Joe Igbokwe, has demanded the immediate dismissal of the soldier who confronted the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, during a tense altercation in Abuja.
Reacting to the incident on his Facebook page, Igbokwe expressed outrage and questioned the motives behind the soldier’s defiance of the Minister’s authority.
He wrote, “Who is this man in uniform? Of what meat is he fed? Who is beating the drum for him? This is unacceptable. His uniform has to be removed.”
Earlier reports indicated that the soldier had prevented Wike and top FCTA officials from gaining access to a disputed piece of land in the FCT. The officer, who claimed he was acting on orders, refused to let the Minister proceed, sparking a heated confrontation between both parties.
According to Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, the soldier was allegedly acting on instructions from a former Chief of Naval Staff.
