Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja was briefly closed on Thursday following an incident involving a private jet on the runway.
The Gulfstream 400 jet, registered as 5N-PZE, sustained damage to its nosewheel while landing around 2 pm. The aircraft had flown from Enugu Airport and was carrying 10 passengers and four crew members.
The cause of the incident is yet to be determined, but the plane was safely removed from the runway. A source at the airport said, “The aircraft experienced a nosewheel problem on landing. All 14 people onboard are safe, and the airport closure was short-lived.”
Requests for comment from Henry Agbebire, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), went unanswered.
