The Super Eagles triumphed 4–1 over Gabon after extra time to secure a spot in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup African play-offs in Rabat, Morocco.

Nigeria demonstrated grit and attacking sharpness against a tough Gabonese side. Sevilla forward Akor Adams opened the scoring in the 78th minute, finishing expertly after sustained pressure. Gabon responded late, with Mario Lemina equalizing in the 89th minute, sending the match into extra time.

In extra time, the Super Eagles took full control. Chidera Ejuke put Nigeria ahead in the 97th minute, and Victor Osimhen then starred, netting in the 102nd and 110th minutes to seal a convincing 4–1 victory.

Nigeria will face the winner of the other semi-final between Cameroon and DR Congo in the play-off final on Sunday, November 16. The victor will advance to the inter-confederation play-offs, keeping the Super Eagles’ World Cup dreams alive.
