Armed bandits struck Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, on Sunday night, abducting at least 25 schoolgirls and killing the school’s vice principal.
Sulaiman Abdullahi, a local source, said the attackers arrived in large numbers and fired sporadically before gaining access to the school. Several unidentified bodies were also reportedly found on the premises.
By Monday morning, air force jets were seen patrolling the area, and heavily armed security personnel had cordoned off the school.
CSP Nafiu Abubakar, spokesperson for the Kebbi Police Command, confirmed the attack, stating that a tactical team had been deployed to rescue the abducted students.
He assured that every effort is being made to protect the girls in captivity, adding that Commissioner of Police Bello Sani is determined to put an end to bandit attacks in the state.
