The death of Damboa’s Brigade Commander, General Uba, has been officially confirmed after ISWAP fighters reportedly seized and killed him, bringing a tragic end to the confusion that followed his disappearance during a forest operation.

Sources within the military disclosed that the officer had earlier sent a reassuring video to his team, appearing calm and unhurt. That recording, however, was made before things took a dangerous turn.

According to DailyPost, troops began to worry when the commander became disoriented while attempting to navigate his way out of the forest. His condition forced an immediate deployment of search teams, supported by air surveillance.

At a point during the mission, he reached out to his colleagues, saying he was already heading back to base. That message briefly lifted spirits, giving hope that he would be rescued alive. But as reports of his disappearance spread, ISWAP militants were said to have tracked him down and captured him again. His death was confirmed shortly after that.

The Army had earlier announced that he had returned safely, a claim now overturned by the emerging details surrounding the incident.
