Nigeria have moved up three places to 38th in the latest FIFA men’s world ranking released on Wednesday, following a month that saw the Super Eagles take part in two key competitive matches.

The updated ranking, based on 149 international fixtures played since the previous release, reflects Nigeria’s 4–1 win over Gabon and the 1–1 draw with DR Congo, which ended in a 4–3 penalty loss during the African play-off.

Despite the disappointment of missing out on the 2026 World Cup, the Super Eagles’ performances were strong enough to boost their position on the global ladder. Nigeria’s new points tally stands at 1,502.46, placing them fifth in Africa behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt and Algeria.

Morocco remain the continent’s top-ranked team with 1,713.12 points. Senegal follow in 19th place globally with 1,648.07 points, while Egypt sit 34th on 1,520.68 points and Algeria are 35th with 1,516.37.

The competition among African teams remains tight. Nigeria hold a narrow lead over Tunisia, who sit 40th with 1,497.13 points, while Ivory Coast and DR Congo trail further behind with 1,489.59 and 1,442.50 points respectively.
