Vice President Kashim Shettima departed Abuja on Friday to represent President Bola Tinubu at the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.
President Tinubu had postponed his scheduled trip to the summit to receive further security briefings following recent incidents in Kebbi and Kwara states.
The summit, set for Saturday, November 22, to Sunday, November 23, at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, is hosted by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, who currently chairs the G20. It will bring together leaders from the world’s top 20 economies, as well as representatives from the European Union, African Union, and key global financial institutions.
Vice President Shettima is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit.
