Former Ekiti governor Ayo Fayose has confirmed that former President Olusegun Obasanjo has returned the $20,000 he had previously given him, following a recent fallout between the two.
Fayose said the money was returned after he reached out to Obasanjo and has since been converted to naira.
Fayose explained that he gave Obasanjo the funds at his request, reportedly to cover travel arrangements, during a reconciliation ahead of Obasanjo’s 65th birthday. However, Obasanjo later made critical remarks about him at the event, prompting Fayose to write to him.
“I have written to him, and he has returned my $20,000. I thank him for returning it,” Fayose said, expressing relief and satisfaction at having his money back.
