Popular clergyman, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, has laid his mother, Mama Asetu, to rest in a gold-plated casket reportedly valued at about ₦150 million.
Mama Asetu, who died in May 2025 at the age of 104, was buried in December during a ceremony that drew widespread attention. The burial took place in her hometown, Aleibiri, Bayelsa State, on Friday, December 12, 2025.
Videos from the funeral showed the late matriarch being interred in an elaborate gold-finished casket, a detail that quickly became the focal point of discussions online. The atmosphere at the ceremony was solemn as she was committed to the earth after the funeral service.
The extravagant casket sparked mixed reactions, with many expressing shock at the reported cost. Some reports claimed the casket was worth over ₦100 million, while others put the figure as high as ₦150 million.
