Music producer Samklef has ignited controversy, asserting that Davido’s emergence in the Nigerian music scene introduced rivalry and a toxic culture.
Speaking in response to Pheelz’s concerns about comparisons affecting the music industry, Samklef reflected on an earlier era when artists like Wizkid and Olamide made music without pressure or competition.
He claimed that Davido’s arrival changed the dynamics, bringing unhealthy competition, a “cultist mindset,” and practices like fake streams and threats.
Samklef wrote:
“Music was fun when we started. When Wizkid came, there was no comparison—everything was pure love. Olamide came too, same thing. No pressure, no hatred, just music.
Then one Scorpio boy who moves like Diddy… Davido entered, and since then the industry turned toxic. Cultist mindset, threats, fake streams, dirty moves everywhere.”
The comments have sparked strong reactions on social media, with fans and industry insiders weighing in on the debate.
