The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
The approvals, following nominations by President Bola Tinubu, were fast-tracked to ensure continuity in the regulation of Nigeria’s petroleum sector.
Eyesan, a petroleum economist, brings over three decades of experience in the oil and gas industry, having held multiple roles within the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and its subsidiaries, with significant expertise in upstream operations.
Mohammed, a chemical engineer, is known for his extensive experience in refining, gas management, and policy formulation, having served in key leadership positions across the petroleum sector.
The confirmations come amid leadership transitions aimed at strengthening oversight and enhancing operational efficiency in the upstream, midstream, and downstream segments under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
Both leaders are expected to boost investor confidence, enforce regulatory compliance, and support the growth of domestic refining capacity and gas development in Nigeria.
