Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has sworn in Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa as the substantive Chairman of Agege Local Government, charging him to focus on grassroots development and ensure his administration aligns with the state’s broader development agenda.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Monday at Lagos House, Ikeja, and also included the inauguration of Toyin Adejimiwa as a Permanent Secretary.

Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, who is the son of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudasiru Obasa, had been serving as the acting chairman of Agege Local Government before his confirmation and formal inauguration.

Speaking at the event, Sanwo-Olu described local government as the level of government closest to the people, emphasizing the need for leadership that is visible, responsive and compassionate.

The governor urged the newly sworn-in council chairman to run an inclusive administration, shun divisive actions and concentrate on delivering tangible results for residents, stressing that discipline and performance remain key measures for leadership and progress in Lagos State.
