Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has rejected reports claiming he has withdrawn from the 2027 presidential race, describing them as false and misleading.
Some reports had suggested that Atiku, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2023 election, stepped aside in favour of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, and supported a one-term presidency for Obi to promote regional balance.
Atiku’s media adviser, Paul Ibe, refuted the claims, calling them fake news. On Saturday, December 27, Ibe shared a screenshot of the report on his verified X account, stating, “Fake news: Not on the menu!”
The denial comes amid reports that Peter Obi is preparing to formally join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
