A devastating fire at a New Year’s party in southern Switzerland has left multiple people dead and others injured.
Valais police spokesperson Gaetan Lathion confirmed that the fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. on January 1, 2026, at Le Constellation lounge bar in Crans-Montana, a resort town known for its luxury ski destinations.
“There are several injuries and several fatalities,” Lathion said, adding that authorities have not yet disclosed the exact number of victims or the cause of the blaze.
A press conference with police and the canton’s public prosecutor is scheduled for 10 a.m. local time (4 a.m. ET) to provide further details on the incident.
