The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has introduced strict guidelines restricting interactions between men and women in public, including private conversations in vehicles, to reinforce Sharia compliance.

In a notice dated December 31, 2025, the Commission warned against reckless behavior during weddings, Sallah, and other social gatherings.

Under the new rules, men and women are prohibited from sitting together in cars or on motorcycles, engaging in physical contact, or holding private conversations under the guise of casual talk.

The directive, issued by State Commander Dr. Muhammad Yawudi Kale and approved by Chairman Dr. Yahuza Hamza Abubakar, is intended to promote moral discipline and safeguard the upbringing of children.

The Commission also urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to help enforce the measures, which form part of ongoing efforts to regulate public behavior and uphold Islamic values, particularly during festive seasons.
