Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has formally joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor received his APC membership card on Friday in Jos from Rufus Bature, the state party chairman, during a ceremony marking his defection.
Speaking at the event, Mutfwang said his move was driven by what he believes will benefit Plateau State. He assured residents of inclusive governance and called for unity among the people.
“The journey we are embarking on is a journey of faith, and I believe Plateau will reap the benefits of this union. I know there are skeptics, but I urge patience. Time will reveal everything. To those who are fearful, take courage. We have come to work together and build for the good of our state,” he said.
The governor also expressed gratitude to his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for supporting his political journey.
Mutfwang pledged to provide effective leadership under the APC and thanked President Bola Tinubu for his support for Plateau State, promising to back his re-election bid in 2027.
