Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has issued a stern warning to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, stating that there will be no second chance for leaders who fail to govern effectively.

Speaking on Friday during a “thank you visit” to Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, Wike said a governor who cannot maintain strong relationships with local government chairmen, state assembly members, and other key stakeholders lacks the capacity to lead.

“We must make decisions. I’ve heard people say those who supported Atiku are back, yet they couldn’t even deliver 10 per cent. Money cannot fix the problem the governor has started. If you fail the first time, there will be no second chance. There cannot be two captains on one ship,” he said.

He added, “Anyone who cannot relate with Local Government Chairmen, state assembly members, National Assembly members, and other stakeholders cannot provide good leadership.”

Wike also responded to Fubara’s recent New Year remarks, issuing a pointed reminder of past political lessons.

“Somebody said a dog is barking. This dog barked even when Rivers people didn’t know who the person was, and that same dog helped make him governor when others ran away. Now the dog is barking again, and he’s not afraid. I wish him good luck. We have decided to support Asiwaju Tinubu. There’s no debate about that. But we will not repeat the mistakes of the past; we will correct them,” Wike said.
