Anthony Joshua has shared his first message publicly following a deadly car accident in Nigeria that killed two of his close friends and team members.
The 36-year-old former two-time heavyweight champion was a passenger in a Lexus SUV that collided with a stationary truck on a busy Lagos expressway. Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele lost their lives in the crash, with their funerals held at a London mosque on Sunday.
Joshua sustained minor injuries and was hospitalized, but he was discharged on Wednesday and returned to the UK over the weekend.
On Sunday, he posted two photos on Instagram. One shows him sitting with his mother and three women, one of whom is holding a photo of Ghami, accompanied by the caption: "My Brothers Keeper."
The driver of the SUV, 46-year-old Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, appeared at Sagamu Magistrates’ Court on Friday. Police sources confirmed he faces charges including causing death by dangerous driving.
