The Presidency has confirmed that a photograph of President Bola Tinubu with Rwandan President Paul Kagame, shared on Sunday, is genuine and not AI-generated, dismissing circulating reports suggesting otherwise.
Temitope Ajayi, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, clarified in a statement on Monday that the two leaders met in Paris for lunch before later joining French President Emmanuel Macron for dinner.
“The claim that the picture of Presidents Bola Tinubu and Paul Kagame taken in Paris was AI-generated is not correct,” the statement said.
Ajayi explained that the image, taken with a phone, naturally had lower quality, and the photographer later used the AI tool Grok only to enhance the picture. “This does not mean the photo is AI-generated. Both presidents met in Paris and had lunch together, followed by dinner with President Macron. The writer or editor should have verified the facts before drawing this incorrect conclusion,” he said.
The Presidency noted that such reports have created a misleading narrative around the meeting and urged the media to ensure accuracy before publication
