Erik ten Hag has completed a homecoming after being appointed technical director of FC Twente, the club that shaped his early football life.
The former Manchester United boss takes up the role following a brief and difficult spell at Bayer Leverkusen. Ten Hag was dismissed in September after just three matches in charge, having secured only one point from his opening two Bundesliga fixtures before being shown the exit after the third game.
Speaking on his return, the 55-year-old highlighted his long-standing connection to the club, saying: “I think it’s wonderful and special to return to FC Twente, where I’ve been a supporter at Het Diekman since I was a young boy. My football and coaching careers began here.”
Ten Hag began his professional playing career with Twente in 1989 and later retired at the club in 2002, making his latest appointment a significant return to familiar ground.
