The Federal Government has approved the Super Eagles’ match bonuses for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with payments set to start reflecting in the players’ domiciliary accounts “today or tomorrow,” according to Minister of State for Finance Doris Uzoka-Anite.
The confirmation comes after the team threatened on Wednesday to boycott their travel to Marrakesh for the quarter-final clash against Algeria over unpaid allowances.
Nigeria is scheduled to face Algeria on Saturday in Marrakesh, about five hours from their base in Fez. Players and officials had refused to travel until the outstanding bonuses for all four matches played so far in the tournament were paid.
