BBNaija star Vee has opened up about the relentless pressure she faces about marriage as she approaches 30, describing it as exhausting and sometimes absurd.
“Nobody ever mentally prepared me for the amount of conversations I would have to have as a woman turning 30 this year,” Vee said. She recalled a recent call from a married friend living abroad: “Hi V, oh my god, I’ve been trying to get a hold of you, it’s been so long…Anyway, I was praying and got something…When are you getting married, husband? Like bro, have you seen the price of groceries? She didn’t even ask me about my work, the thing putting a roof over my head. She only cared if there’s a man in my life.”
Vee stressed that while she does want marriage and children in the future, her current focus is on her career and personal growth. “Husband, marriage, children? I think not—for now. I’m not in control of when I’ll meet the right guy, and I’m definitely not settling for the wrong one.”
She also shared a memorable moment from London, when a friend looked at her finger and said, “Hopefully by the next time I see you, there’ll be a ring on this finger.” Vee laughed it off: “Guys, I’m not in control. I’m not God. Let’s just leave it at that, man.”
Her candid reflections shed light on the societal pressures women face as they age, emphasizing the importance of following their own timeline rather than succumbing to external expectations.
