The Confederation of African Football has selected Moroccan referee Jalal Jiyed to officiate the third-place playoff between Nigeria and Egypt at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The match will be staged at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, with kick-off scheduled for 5 pm WAT. Both the Super Eagles and the Pharaohs will be aiming to finish the tournament on a positive note after missing out on a place in the final.

Jiyed will be assisted by Zakaria Brinsi, Akarkad Mostafa and Hassani Khalil, while Peter Waweru Kamaku will act as the fourth official. Video assistant referee duties have been assigned to Algeria’s Lahlu Benbraham, supported by Haythem Guirat and Hamza El Fariq. Sinko Zeli will serve as referee assessor for the encounter.

Nigeria arrive in Casablanca following a heartbreaking semi-final defeat to tournament hosts Morocco, where they were beaten on penalties after a tense contest. Egypt also suffered semi-final disappointment, losing 1-0 to defending champions Senegal.

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has emphasized the need to end the competition with pride and momentum, while Egypt coach Hossam Hassan views the playoff as an opportunity to secure a podium finish and lift his team’s morale.
