Senator Ned Nwoko has rejected claims made by his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels, over her alleged separation from their children, insisting she was neither blocked nor hidden from them and that the situation stemmed from her own decisions.
According to Nwoko, the matter has already been considered by a court, which laid down conditions Daniels must meet before access to the children can resume. These include undergoing rehabilitation and an assessment by the Abuja Social Welfare Department.
A statement issued on Tuesday by his communications team and shared on his X account accused Daniels of misrepresenting facts through her recent social media posts. It stated that her narrative does not align with the family’s long-established practices, particularly regarding public appearances involving the children.
“The recent posts by Regina present a version of events that is both misleading and inconsistent with long-established family practice. Publicly sharing moments involving the children has never been new, unusual, or controversial within the family,” the statement read.
The statement also dismissed claims that Daniels had been deliberately excluded from her children’s lives, describing such suggestions as inaccurate. Nwoko maintained that the children have remained in a carefully structured environment focused on emotional balance, routine, and stability.
“Children deserve a parent who is emotionally present, mentally sound, and sober most of the time. This is not an unreasonable expectation; it is the minimum standard of care any parent owes their children,” the statement added.
Nwoko’s response followed an emotional post shared by Daniels on Monday, where she spoke about the pain of being away from her children and said no mother could be truly at peace under such circumstances. She expressed optimism about reuniting with them, writing:
“I may be young, but I am such a mum, I enjoy being a mum and I miss being a mum. I will definitely see my kids soon!”
Addressing the legal aspect, Nwoko reiterated that the court ruled in his favour and clearly outlined the steps Daniels must take before access can be restored.
“The ruling was resolved in favour of Senator Ned Nwoko, with clear directions that Regina Daniels must undergo drug rehabilitation and be assessed by the Abuja Social Welfare Department before access can be restored to Munir (5) and Khalifa (3), the children of the marriage.
“The matter has been adjourned to 4 February 2026 for hearing of the substantive suit.”
He further warned that continued online commentary could worsen the situation, cautioning against “using the children as emotional shields to deflect from unresolved personal issues.”
Nwoko concluded by urging compliance with the court’s directives, stressing that the focus should be on recovery and stability rather than fuelling another round of public attention.
“It is our hope that this window of quietude will be used for healing and recovery, rather than generating another cycle of online attention.”
