Court Hears New Details In Yahaya Fraud Trial
A prosecution witness has told the Federal High Court in Abuja that funds allegedly linked to a ₦10 billion fraud traced to the Kogi State Government were connected to Ali Bello, nephew of former governor Yahaya Adoza Bello.
The testimony came on Monday as the trial resumed before Justice James Omotosho in Maitama.
Ali Bello, who serves as Chief of Staff to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, is standing trial alongside Dauda Sulaiman on a 16-count amended charge of alleged misappropriation and money laundering amounting to over ₦10.2 billion.
An EFCC investigator, Ahmed Audu Abubakar, identified documents showing money movements tied to the case and linked several transfers to the first and second defendants.
He also mentioned entries showing payments to Presido and Daud, as well as large sums allegedly moved from Lokoja to a bureau de change operator. According to him, ₦100 million was paid in instalments for a property in Gwarimpa, Abuja.
After hearing both sides, Justice Omotosho admitted the statements into evidence and adjourned the case to February 17, 2026, for continuation.
