President Donald Trump has filed a $15 billion defamation lawsuit against The New York Times.
Trump, who recently faced false online death reports, claims the newspaper defamed him and acted as a ‘mouthpiece’ for the Democratic Party during the 2024 presidential election.
In the lawsuit filed on September 15, 2025, Trump accuses The New York Times of “industrial scale libel,” calling it a major purveyor of falsehoods within the legacy media.
He also alleges the paper misrepresented his tenure on The Apprentice to influence the election and abandoned journalistic standards to promote a narrative favorable to Democrats.
