El Rufai Raises Fresh Allegations On ICPC
Former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai has told a court in Abuja that officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission tried to force him out of politics before granting his release.
The claim is contained in a 30-page criminal complaint where he accused ICPC chairman Musa Adamu Aliyu and four others.
Court documents show he alleged that operatives made it clear his freedom depended on stepping away from political activities ahead of 2027.
He said the message was repeated during detention, warning that staying active in politics would keep him in custody.
The allegation forms part of a key count in the case, where he accused the officials of wrongful confinement aimed at compelling him.
He has asked the court to investigate what he described as an abuse of authority and a move to deny him his political rights. The ICPC has yet to respond to the claims.
The case is before the Federal High Court, where Justice Joyce Abdulmalik adjourned proceedings to March 25, 2026.
