Ex Soldier Pushes Back With Payment Proof
A dismissed soldier, Rotimi Olamilekan, has renewed claims about poor welfare in the Nigerian Army, presenting bank alerts he said reflect his earnings while in service.
The video surfaced on Tuesday, shortly after the Army rejected his earlier statements. He said he was only sharing facts and backing them with evidence.
He displayed three transaction alerts, including one he identified as his salary and others linked to allowances.
According to him, some payments depend on deployment, meaning personnel not on active operations receive less. He said those stationed in barracks mainly rely on basic salary and limited allowances.
He urged Nigerians to confirm from relatives in service and challenged the Army to publish its payroll records to settle the matter. The receipts shown could not be independently verified.
The Army dismissed his claims, insisting that personnel are properly paid and equipped through established systems.
It stated that allowances are paid regularly and that no soldier is sent to operations without protection. The military added that his dismissal was due to disciplinary issues, not his public statements.
