FAAN Bans Cash Payments At Nigerian Airports
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has announced a ban on all cash payments across its operations nationwide.
The move follows the Federal Government’s push for a cashless system, with the new rule set to begin on February 29.
The directive will apply to all services handled by the authority at airports across the country. From the effective date, payments for services will only be accepted through approved electronic channels.
The policy is aimed at promoting transparency, reducing risks linked to cash handling, and aligning airport operations with national financial reforms.
It marks a shift in how transactions will be carried out within the aviation sector.
Passengers, contractors and service providers have been advised to prepare for the transition before the deadline to avoid disruption when the new system takes effect.
