FAAN Ends Cash Payments
Starting 1 March 2026, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria will no longer accept cash at any of its airport revenue points.
The move affects all transactions across airports under FAAN’s management, signalling a shift towards fully electronic payments.
Passengers and airport users will now be required to use card payments, mobile apps, or other approved digital channels for services such as ticketing, parking, and other fees.
FAAN said the measure aims to improve efficiency, reduce fraud, and streamline airport operations.
Airport staff will assist travellers in transitioning to the new system, but users are encouraged to plan ahead and ensure they have access to the required digital payment options.
The policy forms part of a broader government push for cashless transactions in public services and is expected to set a precedent for other agencies handling revenue collection.
