Fayose Makes Fresh Claim on Makinde
Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has alleged that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is considering a move to the African Democratic Congress on the condition that he becomes running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in 2027.
Fayose shared the claim in a statement posted on his verified X account.
He said Makinde met Atiku in Minna, Niger State, in a meeting he described as carefully arranged to ensure trust and wider acceptance.
Fayose claimed the talks weighed possible ticket options and the chances of securing the ADC presidential slot.
According to him, Makinde pledged financial backing of N10 billion to support the party’s early activities and promised to rally delegates from the South West and parts of the South South.
He also alleged that another meeting has been planned in Dubai within weeks to continue discussions.
Atiku, however, has publicly stated that his visit to Niger State was focused on strengthening party structures and discussing electoral reforms, not the 2027 race.
The claims have added fresh tension to the unfolding political realignments ahead of the next general election.
