FG Releases New Rule For NYSC Applicants
The Federal Government has made compliance with the Nigeria Education Repository and Data Park mandatory for graduates seeking mobilisation into the National Youth Service Corps or applying for exemption.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa.
The directive means graduates must have their academic records captured in the national education database before they can be cleared for the NYSC scheme.
Authorities say the step is aimed at tightening verification of academic qualifications across the country.
The Nigeria Education Repository and Data Park was created in 2023 following public concern over widespread certificate fraud.
The platform functions as a digital system designed to store, manage and confirm educational records with support from both government and private partners.
Officials say linking NYSC participation to the database will help ensure that only properly verified graduates enter the scheme.
The policy is also expected to improve the credibility of academic records and limit the circulation of fake certificates.
