Fresh Warning From Obi To Obidients
Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has distanced himself from attacks on leaders of the opposition coalition, insisting that anyone engaging in such behaviour does not represent the Obidient movement.
He spoke on Tuesday during a visit to the movement’s secretariat, where he addressed growing complaints about online and verbal abuse allegedly carried out in his name. Obi said such actions go against the values he stands for and should not be linked to his supporters.
According to him, those insulting leaders within the African Democratic Congress and the wider coalition are acting on their own and should be seen as criminals rather than genuine Obidients.
Obi stressed that respect must guide interactions among members of the coalition, adding that name-calling and personal attacks weaken the collective goal of building a strong opposition. He said division has never been part of his message or political approach.
He made it clear that he has never insulted any political leader and has never asked anyone to do so on his behalf, warning that abusive conduct only damages the credibility of the movement
